LifeFlight airlifts trapped man after five-hour silo ordeal

The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew today airlifted a man after he was injured while trapped in a silo.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked to a rural property in Eurombah at 1.50pm.

It followed reports a man in his 80s was working inside a fertiliser silo when he became stuck.

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) firefighters entered the silo to extricate the man who was freed after five hours.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for minor injuries.

He was airlifted to Roma Hospital in a stable condition.

Tasked by Queensland Ambulance Service, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
