We recognise and respect the broad range of cultures and diversity within the communities we serve, and through this lens we are proud to be on the journey to reconciliation.
Our hope is for equity, recognition and advancement of First Nations peoples. We are proud to share LifeFlight’s first Reconciliation Action Plan with the communities we serve, our partners, our patients and employees.

A deeper understanding and respect have always ignited and inspired our efforts to make a difference. This Reconciliation Action Plan will help guide LifeFlight to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, establish mutual respect and trust and respond to their needs. Our hope is this Plan will provide tangible and substantive benefits by enhancing our service delivery and increasing support for First Nations communities.

Our culture

A standards-led organisation, LifeFlight operates to the highest safety and assurance standards in the world.

Across the continuum of our operations, from aviation regulations to medicine, and specific industry quality standards including global oil and gas standards, safety is our first priority.

LifeFlight applies a systematic approach to all risk disciplines: aviation safety, workplace health and safety, security, environment, and business resilience. This system is continually improving through LifeFlight’s learnings and collaborations.

ZERO MAJOR INCIDENTS

LifeFlight has an enviable safety record, supported by a comprehensive management system incorporating ISO
9001:2015 accreditation.

Our internal Integrated Risk Management Department ensures compliance with the Australian Federal Government’s aviation authority, the aviation Security Authority and an internationally recognised standard of quality assurance. This is achieved through internal and external audits conducted on all areas of the organisation on an annual or biannual basis.

LifeFlight uses this next-generation risk-assessment tool to ensure our SMS is rooted in sound risk assessment methodology.

This accreditation assures that LifeFlight’s systems are audited and maintained to a high standard. They are underpinned by a number of quality management principles: client focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach, and continual improvement.

LifeFlight’s services meet or exceed what is required by the IOGP standards.

LifeFlight’s FDM systems collect data on how aircraft are being flown. LifeFlight reviews this data and adjusts operating procedures to be more efficient and safe. In this way, LifeFlight’s approach to flying is continually improving.

HUMS gives LifeFlight visibility over the health of aircraft. With this information, LifeFlight can proactively identify and respond to hardware degradation. The ultimate result is improved safety and reduced downtime.

LifeFlight is a founding member of the Aviation Safety Network. LifeFlight actively participates in the network and its continuing education program.
