Our partners

LifeFlight partners with many significant commercial and public sector organisations from Australia and across the globe to successfully deliver the pinnacle of aeromedical care.

Government

LifeFlight’s rescue helicopters perform a unique and vital function in Queensland’s healthcare chain – connecting all Queenslanders to world-class, lifesaving care. As part of Queensland’s Emergency Helicopter Network, our rescue and aeromedical teams respond to retrieval and rescue missions, under the leadership and guidance of Retrieval Services Queensland. We share Queensland Health’s vision to bring the very best care to all Queenslanders.

In April 2024, the Queensland Government made a record investment in LifeFlight’s rescue helicopter operations. This vital funding gives all Queenslanders – particularly those in regional, rural and remote areas – long-term certainty that we’ll be there when you need us. Anyone, anywhere, anytime.

LifeFlight is incredibly grateful to the Queensland Government and the partners who work beside us: Queensland Health, Retrieval Services Queensland and more recently, Queensland Ambulance Service. We thank them for trusting us to serve Queenslanders in their greatest moments of need.

Industry partners

LifeFlight provides rescue and aeromedical service, repatriation services and medical services to other government and counter disaster agencies, the defence industry, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the oil and gas industry and various insurance companies. Whether saving lives on the frontline or ensuring our medical and aircraft assets are in the right place at the right time to provide the highest standards of care, the entire LifeFlight team is committed to working together – with our clients and partners – to produce the best possible outcomes. Our 30-year partnership with RACQ was one of the longest partnership stories in Queensland.

Working within the Australian and Queensland SAR system, LifeFlight has coordinated almost 1,720 offshore missions for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) over the past decade.
LifeFlight also provide telemedical support services to the maritime community across an offshore area of almost 53 million km2. Australia is one of only a few countries in the world to offer emergency medical services across such vast distances offshore. Dedicated 24/7 LifeFlight medical consultants average 150 calls a year with vessels in designated Australian waters out as far as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and halfway to South Africa.

The LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service has been stationed in Toowoomba and the Maranoa since 2011 under a partnership agreement with industry companies Shell’s QGC business, Santos, Arrow Energy and Origin. SGAS was created to augment existing medical and emergency services in the region by providing aeromedical coverage, which was previously unavailable in some areas. The four SGAS-funding companies donate 150 flying hours to be used for community missions each year.

Located within the LifeFlight Training Academy at the Brisbane Airport, the Thales LifeFlight Simulation Centre features the first Thales-built Reality H AW139 Level D Full Flight Simulator and sets the safety and training standard in innovative AW139 aircrew training.

Aviation Australia has world-class training facilities established by the Queensland State Government to support the development and growth of aviation and aerospace industries in both the Australian and International markets.

Residents and visitors in north west Queensland receive improved lifesaving aeromedical services through a close collaboration between the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter service.
