We believe that every person deserves equitable access to life-saving healthcare, no matter where they live. We take great pride in listening to and understanding each community we serve, making sure our community-based support is not only meaningful but also tailored to what’s truly needed. Wherever you live in Queensland, there is a way to be part of LifeFlight through our community involvement programs: as a volunteer, through free First Minutes Matter training, at one of our two Visitor Experience Centres, at a community event, by sharing your LifeFlight story or as a Community Leader.

Volunteers help at event stalls, Visitor Experience Centre tours, and base open days. You do not need an aviation or medical background.
First Minutes Matter is a LifeFlight program that helps people recognise and respond to medical emergencies before paramedics or emergency services arrive. It is free, led by experienced LifeFlight medical educators, and supports our community in the minutes before our rescue helicopter crews land. Host a workshop for your town, club, group, school or workplace, attend a public workshop or learn online.
Explore LifeFlight up close at one of our two free Visitor Experience Centres. Our inaugural centre in Roma features a helicopter simulator, a green-screen winching photo and a window into the hangar, while the Jocelyn Walker Visitor Experience and Education Centre on the Sunshine Coast, opened in June 2026, offers three interactive missions and a hangar viewing area. Group tours are available.
Galas, soirees, cattle drives, golf days and morning teas are where much of LifeFlight’s community fundraising happens. Yes. Our Visitor Experience Centres in Roma and on the Sunshine Coast are free to visit, with guided tours on request in Roma and group tours available on the Sunshine Coast. Enquire through the Visitor Experiences page.

Yes. Workshops and the online course are free, funded by donations, supporters and sponsors. Workshops have been delivered across 160+ Queensland locations.
LifeFlight has community programs surrounding each of our bases across Queensland: Wide Bay-Burnett, Sunshine Coast and South Burnett, South West, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Darling Downs and North Queensland.
