Created by a community of passionate locals, LifeFlight began as a grassroots regional helicopter service. Today, with over 45 years in the air, we lead the way in emergency rescue, protection, and retrieval medicine.
Though we’ve been known by different names over the years, CareFlight, RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, and Sunshine Coast Helicopter Rescue Service, our commitment to community service has remained the same – to serve communities in their greatest moments of need.
Providing the absolute pinnacle of aeromedical care, LifeFlight Medical Services is the largest employer of pre-hospital emergency care doctors in Australia.
Our Foundation raises money for vital equipment, facilities, critical care doctors, and innovative research, ensuring everyone has access to life-saving healthcare.
Our Training Academy trains more than 1,500 aviation and medical professionals each year, combining real-world experience with top-tier education to ensure they’re always ready to save lives.
Every 64 minutes, our iconic blue and yellow choppers and our ever-expanding fleet of medically equipped jets are ready to mobilise in the moment.
We perform emergency rescues, natural disaster response, patient transfers, international medical evacuations and aerial protection and surveillance.
It’s about connecting patients to the best medical and rescue
specialists, no matter where they are.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Custodians of the land on which we serve and fly, and pay respect to their Elders past, present and future.
