We’re not just about maintaining aircraft; we’re also about pushing the boundaries of innovation. In 2023, we introduced the ARC Animal Rescue Capsule, a groundbreaking solution designed to airlift pets during floods, showcasing our dedication to creative problem-solving in critical situations.
The opening of our LifeFlight Clive Berghofer Maintenance Centre at Archerfield Airport in Brisbane is a major leap forward in how we maintain and care for our aircraft. With a $26 million investment, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to keep pace with LifeFlight’s growing fleet.
The Centre includes to four large bays to house our AW139 aircraft and Challenger 604 jets with seven-tonne access doors, three three-tonne-plus cranes, offices, kitchens and showers for more than 30 staff, solar panels and tarmac for aircraft manoeuvering, landing, take-off and refuelling.
Equipped with expanded hangar space, our LifeFlight Clive Berghofer Maintenance Centre is the largest complex in our history, doubling our capacity for heavy maintenance activities. It’s not only ideal for a wide range of general aviation operations but also crucial for supporting the emergency services that Queenslanders rely on.
All of our aircraft is rotate through the Centre for major inspections and specialised work that cannot be performed at other bases, ensuring that our aeromedical assets are always ready for action.
Part 145 certificate from CASA, LifeFlight is proud to be the only aeromedical service provider in Queensland and one of just two in Australia with an internationally recognised standard for aircraft maintenance.
Achieving this certification is no small feat. It reflects our rigorous adherence to the highest standards in the industry, ensuring that every aspect of our maintenance operations meets or exceeds stringent regulatory requirements.
We take this responsibility seriously, dedicating around five hours of meticulous maintenance for every hour of flight. This commitment ensures our aircraft are always in peak condition.
