The Mount Isa-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today (Saturday) flew to the scene of a road train that had crashed and rolled over, trapping the driver north east of Mount Isa.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 7.18am by Retrieval Services Queensland to a road about 22 kilometres south of the Burke and Wills Roadhouse in Four Ways.
The multi-agency response included Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the Queensland Fire Department (QFD).
The QAS flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the man for potentially life-threatening injuries.
Once released from the cabin, the driver, aged in his 30s, was stabilised and transported by road to the Burke and Wills Roadhouse along with the QAS flight paramedic and LifeFlight rescue crewman. He was then transferred to a waiting Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft and flown to Townsville Hospital for further treatment.
