The Mt Isa-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew was yesterday tasked to a search and rescue mission after three vehicles were bogged in mud.
The rescue helicopter was tasked to a remote location northeast of Burketown at 4pm and were able to locate the vehicles with the assistance of the Queensland Police Service.
It’s believed the vehicles had been stuck since Easter Sunday.
The LifeFlight crew was able to land close to the scene to drop water and supplies before airlifting four adults to Burketown.
The helicopter then refuelled and returned to the location with recovery tracks to aid in the retrieval of the vehicles.
Two more people were airlifted to Burketown while six declined transportation.
No one was injured and no medical care was required.
