Woman airlifted in a critical condition after being stung by a wasp

The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) chopper crew has airlifted a woman to hospital after she was stung by a wasp on Friday evening (24th Nov), in the Maranoa region.

The woman suffered a severe anaphylactic reaction after being stung.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were already treating the woman before the aeromedical crew arrived on scene.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic worked with local paramedics to stabilise the patient for the flight.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
