LifeFlight winch three people from upturned vessel

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew yesterday winched three people from an upturned vessel.

The rescue chopper was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) at 8.10am.

The 8-metre vessel was located 9 kilometres off Noosa Heads.

The LifeFlight rescue crew officer was winched down to retrieve three men.

One patient was treated by the critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic for a head abrasion.

The men, aged in their 50s and 60s, were airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
