Woman airlifted after serious single-vehicle crash

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight helicopter crew has flown a woman to hospital after she was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash, in the South Burnett region.

It’s believed the woman, who is aged in her 50s, was driving with her high-school aged daughter when their car reportedly veered off the road, crashing down a road embankment.

The rescue chopper was called into action shortly before 5.30pm this afternoon. (Weds 22nd March)

The LifeFlight Special Mission Helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the road near the scene of the crash where the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic met with local QAS paramedics.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel were also in attendance.

The woman was treated for neck and head injuries.

She was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Her daughter was transported to hospital by QAS paramedics.
