Two LifeFlight choppers assist in multi-vehicle highway crash

Two LifeFlight rescue helicopters were tasked to a multi-vehicle incident on a stretch of highway in the Western Downs region this morning.

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue and Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopters were called into action just after 6:30am.

The pilots were able to land their aircraft on the highway, which had been closed by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.

Two RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctors worked with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patients on scene.

A man, aged in his 30s, suffering chest and pelvic injuries and was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.

A second male patient, aged in his 40s, suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
