Search for man and dog missing in flood zone

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew from the Sunshine Coast has joined the search for a man and his dog, reported missing.

It’s believed the pet ran away last night, from a site where the man was camping, in the Gympie region.

The owner, who is aged in his thirties, chased after the dog and hasn’t been seen since.

A friend called emergency services this morning, and the rescue chopper was tasked by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) just after 11am.

The campsite is currently inaccessible by road, due to flooding in the region.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew conducted an aerial search over dense bushland and flooded river crossings for several hours.

The campsite is currently inaccessible by road, due to flooding in the area.

The man and his pet are still missing.
