Rescue chopper airlifts injured motorbike rider

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a motorbike incident, at a recreational park, this afternoon (Sunday 15th Oct).

It’s believed the rider was thrown over the handlebars of the bike.

The rescue chopper was called to the scene, in the Somerset region, shortly before 1:30pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked alongside local QAS paramedics to treat the man for abdominal and suspected spinal injuries.

The motorbike rider, who is aged in his 50s, was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
