The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew was on the scene of a serious highway crash within just minutes of being tasked, as they were fortunately close by, flying back to base from a previous mission.
The pilot landed the chopper close to the site of the two-vehicle crash, west of Ipswich, where a man was trapped in his ute which had rolled and landed on its roof late this afternoon (Tues 11th July).
The highway was closed as emergency services worked to free the driver who was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics then transported him a short distance to the waiting helicopter.
The patient, who is aged in his forties, was in a stable condition under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic when he was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, suffering suspected chest and other injuries.
