LifeFlight airlifts man after suspected sea snake bite

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical team today airlifted a man to hospital after a suspected sea snake bite in the Gympie region.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 10:59am to Double Island Point and landed on the beach.

The critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for a bite to his right foot.

The patient, aged in his 20s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
