RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts woman stung by jellyfish

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was stung by a jellyfish on K’gari (Fraser Island) this afternoon.

It’s believed the woman, who is aged in her 20s, had been stung by the marine creature while she was on holidays from Brisbane.

It’s unknown what type of jellyfish stung the tourist.

The rescue chopper was tasked to the western side of the island, just after 6:30pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot landed the aircraft on the beach, where the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic treated the woman.

She was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
