RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts man injured in serious crash

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a serious crash in the South Burnett region this afternoon.

It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 60s, was driving a four-wheel drive when it collided with a truck on the road, causing him to become entrapped.

The rescue chopper was tasked to the scene about 12pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot landed the chopper near the crash site where the aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel, who were already on scene.

QFES personnel freed the man from his vehicle and he was treated by the aeromedical crew for chest injuries.

The patient was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition, under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
