A man who was fighting a grass fire, has suffered burns and other injuries, requiring him to be airlifted to hospital by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.
The Toowoomba-based rescue helicopter crew was tasked to the fire scene in the Lockyer Valley at 4.45pm today. (Sun 21st)
It is believed the man had been attempting to put out a rapidly spreading grass fire by himself on a private property, when he suffered burns and a suspected head injury.
The pilot landed the chopper close to where Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were treating the man, while Queensland Fire and Emergency Service officers extinguished the blaze.
The patient, who is aged in his sixties, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
