RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts man after marine sting

Bundaberg’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a tourist to hospital, after he was stung by a sea creature while on K’gari this afternoon (Sunday, 13th of March).

It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 20s, was drag net fishing with a group of friends, when a marine stinger got caught in his net.

He had reportedly tried to free the stinger, when it stung him on the abdomen.

The rescue chopper was called to the eastern side of the popular island just after 4pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot was able to land the aircraft on the beach.

The patient was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
