RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts injured dirt bike rider

The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a dirt bike riding incident, in the Southern Downs, this afternoon.

It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 50s, had been attempting a jump at a track, when he fell from his bike.

The rescue chopper was called into action, just before 1:30pm (Friday, 19th of May).

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft near the scene of the incident, where the aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for a suspected spinal injury.

The rider was stablised on scene before being flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, under the supervision of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Nurse.
