RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter called to serious crash

A critically injured woman has been taken to hospital, after she was involved in a two car crash on the Sunshine Coast, this morning.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the scene, on a stretch of motorway, at 10:45am.

It’s believed the patient, aged in her forties, had been driving a vehicle, which collided with another. 

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were all on the scene, when the chopper arrived.

The helicopter was able to land on the closed road.

The woman was treated for critical internal injuries, before being taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, by road ambulance

She travelled under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.

It’s believed several other people were injured in the crash.
