The Mount Isa-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted three patients, including a primary school-aged child, to hospital following a crash on a highway in the Cloncurry region.
The rescue chopper was called to the scene around 1.45pm this afternoon (Sat 15th July), with a Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Qld doctor joining the mission.
The rescue chopper pilot landed the aircraft on the road which had been closed by police.
A collision had reportedly occurred between a truck and a ute towing a trailer, with the crash causing the ute to veer off the highway and hit a tree.
Four people had been travelling in the vehicle and were assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) officers, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue QAS Flight Paramedic and the RFDS doctor at the scene.
One female patient on a stretcher, plus another woman and the child were airlifted to Mount Isa Hospital by the rescue chopper, for observation.
Another patient was flown to Mount Isa by RFDS Queensland.
