The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he went missing and spent more than two days and nights in bushland, in the Lockyer Valley region.
The man, who is aged in his 70s, told his rescuers he was travelling home on Saturday night (May 13) when his car broke down and he attempted to walk home, before getting lost in nearby bushland.
He was found on Monday morning after an extensive search by his family and State Emergency Service (SES) personnel.
They were unable to transport him due to the difficult terrain, in the area in which he was found.
The rescue chopper was called into action just before 1pm on Monday.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot landed the aircraft at a nearby private property.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel carried the man through the hilly terrain to the chopper.
On arrival, he was assessed by the aeromedical team and found to be suffering from hypothermia and small cuts and bruises.
He was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
