LifeFlight winches two stranded mountain climbers

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew winched two mountain climbers to safety from Mt Maroon in the Scenic Rim this afternoon.

Two women aged in their 20s were climbing the mountain when they became stranded and were unable to descend safely.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 3:45pm and spotted the two climbers roughly 150m from the top of the mountain.

The LifeFlight rescue crewman was winched down to the two women who were both winched back to the helicopter.

The two hikers, who were uninjured, were flown to a nearby state school.

They were met by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) who drove them back to their vehicle.
