The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew has airlifted two patients in separate incidents in less than five hours.
The back-to-back missions yesterday first involved a woman being winched after she slipped and fell at a popular waterfall area on the Fraser Coast.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 1:40pm by Retrieval Services Queensland to the national park.
A LifeFlight rescue crewman and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic were winched to the scene.
A QAS flight paramedic worked alongside local paramedics to treat the woman who had a lower leg fracture.
The woman in her 40s was then winched into the aircraft, before being flown to the Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
The second rescue was to airlift a woman to hospital after she required medical attention from a cruise ship off the Queensland coast.
The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked to the ship 31km’s east of Orchid Beach (K’gari) at 6:05pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
The critical care LifeFlight doctor, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic and LifeFlight rescue crewman were winched to the deck of the ship to treat the patient.
A woman in her 70s was winched into the aircraft before being flown to Bundaberg Hospital for further treatment.
