LifeFlight winches motorbike rider injured in off-road incident

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man to safety, after he was injured in an off-road motorbike incident, in the Lockyer Valley, this afternoon.

It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 30s, had been riding with a group of friends in a national park, when he lost control of his bike and fell.

The rescue chopper was called into action just before 2pm.

Once on scene, and due to the rugged terrain, it was decided it was best to winch the patient out.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic were winched down to the ground, where the aeromedical crew treated the man for lower limb injuries, before preparing him to be hoisted up into the helicopter in a stretcher.

He was then flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
