LifeFlight winches man after waterfall incident

The LifeFlight Bundaberg-based aeromedical crew today winched a man to safety after he slipped on a rock and fell three metres.

The rescue helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) to a national park in the Sunshine Coast region at 3.25pm.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics provided initial ground treatment to the patient for a back injury and abrasions before the helicopter arrived.

The LifeFlight rescue crew officer (RCO) and critical care QAS flight paramedic were winched down to retrieve the teenager.

He was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.

In an earlier tasking on the weekend (23 August), the aeromedical crew airlifted a woman in her 60s to hospital, after her foot was run over by an excavator in the Gladstone region.

She was flown to Bundaberg Hospital.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
