LifeFlight tasked to back-to-back beach missions

The LifeFlight Sunshine Coast-based aeromedical crew yesterday were tasked to back-to-back missions.

The rescue chopper was first tasked to a beach in the Gympie region at 2.30pm.

A male surfer in his 60s was treated by the LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic alongside local QAS paramedics for spinal injuries.

He was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

While on the hospital helipad, the crew were tasked at 4.13pm to a campground in the Noosa region.

Three swimmers were retrieved from the ocean by surf lifesavers after they were dragged out by a rip.

The LifeFlight medical team and QAS paramedics treated a teenage girl for spinal injuries.

She was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
