LifeFlight airlifts young bushwalker injured after mountain fall

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a young girl to hospital, after she fell several metres at a popular mountain, on the Sunshine Coast this morning.

It’s believed the primary school-aged child was bushwalking with her family along a mountain track when she fell, suffering head, face and arm injuries.

The rescue chopper was called to assist, just after 8am (Saturday, 29th of October).

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel brought the girl down the mountain, using a specialised stretcher.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft at a nearby sports field, where the aeromedical crew rendezvoused with the local QAS paramedics and the patient.

She was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital for further treatment, escorted by her mother.
