LifeFlight airlifts pilot from firefighting chopper crash

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, who survived with only minor injuries, after the firefighting aircraft he was flying crashed into a dam.

The rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene in the Scenic Rim at 3pm this afternoon.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed his aircraft in a paddock where other emergency services had responded.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic treated the fire-bomber pilot for minor injuries.

The patient was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.
