The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was involved in a serious two-vehicle crash in the Bundaberg region, this afternoon.
The rescue chopper was called to assist just before 4:30pm.
It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 50s, was driving on a highway before his car collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the road, which had been closed by local Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated the patient for multiple injuries before transporting him a short distance to the helicopter and aeromedical crew.
The driver was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition, under the supervision of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor.
