LifeFlight airlifts man injured in machinery incident

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a machinery incident in the Gympie region, this morning.

It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 60s, was operating an excavator when it rolled onto its side, while on a steep embankment.

The rescue chopper was called to the private property, just after noon.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper pilot landed the aircraft in a paddock, near the scene of the incident.

The aeromedical crew met with local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for chest and spinal injuries.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel were also in attendance.

The man was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
