LifeFlight airlifts man after serious hinterland crash

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew last night airlifted a man to hospital after a vehicle crashed into a tree.

Due to severe weather conditions, the LifeFlight medical team was taken by road ambulance at 9pm to the scene in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The man was trapped following the crash and was extricated.by emergency services.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS), Queensland Fire Department (QFD) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) were also on scene.

The patient in his 40s was treated for significant head and chest injuries by the LifeFlight critical care doctor, QAS flight paramedic and local QAS paramedics.

He was taken by road ambulance to Sunshine Coast Airport before being airlifted by LifeFlight to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.
