A paraglider has been airlifted to hospital after crashing his aircraft on a beach in the Gympie region.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called into action shortly before 6pm (Friday 10th Nov).
The LifeFlight rescue pilot was able to safely land on sand dunes close to the crash scene.
It is believed the paraglider fell about 10 metres before hitting the ground.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) officers and the Queensland Police Service (QPS) were on scene when the rescue chopper arrived.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care doctor and QAS flight paramedic, worked alongside QAS paramedics to treat the patient for chest injuries.
The injured man, aged in his 30s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
