LifeFlight airlifts injured bushwalker from mountain

The LifeFlight Bundaberg-based aeromedical crew yesterday winched a woman off a mountain following a multi-agency rescue after she fell while hiking.

The rescue chopper was tasked to the North Burnett region at 1:40pm.

It’s believed the hiker, aged in her 60s, was climbing Mt Walsh with a group of bushwalkers when she fell around one metre.

A LifeFlight rescue crewman and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic was winched down to the patient.

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) and local QAS paramedics were on scene after trekking to the patient.

She was treated for a knee injury and stretcher-winched into the helicopter before being flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
