Critically injured driver airlifted to hospital

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was critically injured in a single vehicle crash in the Noosa region.

The rescue chopper was tasked at 4:20 this morning (Sun 20th) and landed on a nearby oval.

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care doctor and a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic had traveled by road to treat the patient.

Queensland Police Service personnel and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were already on scene.

It’s believed a QAS officer discovered the collision while he was travelling in the early hours of the morning.

The driver, aged in his thirties, suffered traumatic injuries to his head and legs, after his van ran off the road and crashed into trees.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper flew the patient to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
