Bundy crew rescues injured man from property cut off by floods

The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has winched a man from a property cut off by floodwaters, after he was injured overnight.

The man, aged in his seventies, had fallen in his backyard shed around midnight, on a rural property in the Bundaberg region.

His wife found him this morning, and called 000.

Emergency services couldn’t reach the man by road, because of flooding from last night’s heavy downpour in the region.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper was sent to retrieve the man, just after 6:30 this morning.

Because there was nowhere suitable on the property to safely land the chopper, the crew decided to winch the patient.

An aircrew officer and QAS Flight Paramedic were lowered to the ground, to treat the man and place him onto a stretcher, with the help of neighbours.

He was then hoisted into the helicopter and flown to Bundaberg Hospital, in a stable condition.
