Why First Minutes Matter

Frequently asked questions

Hosting is simple. You provide the group and location, we take care of the rest. Our team will work with you to select the right workshop, tailor the content to your audience, and deliver an engaging, practical session for your group.

Anyone organising a group can host a workshop. If you have a group of people who would benefit from learning how to respond in an emergency, you can host a workshop. We regularly partner with:

  • Community groups and clubs
  • Schools and childcare centres
  • Workplaces and corporate teams
  • Sporting organisations and volunteers

Workshops are flexible and can be adapted to suit different group sizes. We do recommend at least five (5) people. Whether you’re organising a small team or a larger community group, we’ll work with you to find the right format for your audience.

You can choose from a range of specialised workshops based on the situations your group is most likely to face, such as children’s safety, road trauma, farm injuries or disaster response. If you’re unsure, we’ll guide you to the most relevant option or create a tailored session for your needs.

First Minutes Matter is not a registered First Aid Course. You may, however, receive a certification of participation upon successful completion of the course. Please discuss this with our team as you tailor your workshop if it's a requirement for you.

First Minutes Matter workshops are free to attend and available at no cost to eligible community groups. Through community and partner support, we’re able to deliver practical, life-saving training at no cost, helping more communities feel prepared when it matters most.

Workshops are designed to be practical and engaging, and the length can vary depending on your group and the content selected. We’ll work with you to plan a session that fits your schedule while still allowing enough time to build confidence through hands-on learning.

No specialised equipment is required. Our team brings everything needed to deliver the workshop. You simply provide a suitable space for your group to gather, and we’ll take care of the rest.
