Road Response

Emergency response training for people who drive, travel and work on our roads.

Whether you’re commuting to work, travelling regional highways, operating a heavy vehicle or driving your family across town, road trauma can happen without warning. Often, the first people on scene are other motorists, passengers or members of the community. Before emergency services arrive, the actions taken in those first critical minutes can make a difference.

Road Response is a free community workshop from First Minutes Matter, designed to help people develop confidence in emergency response, scene safety and casualty management. Through practical, engaging education, participants learn how to respond safely and effectively during a motor vehicle incident while waiting for professional help.

What is Road Response?

Road Response is a free, practical workshop. It is designed to help everyday motorists recognise hazards, make critical decisions and provide lifesaving assistance before emergency services arrive.

Unlike traditional first-aid training, Road Response focuses on the unique challenges of roadside incidents, from passing traffic and damaged vehicles to seriously injured casualties and potentially long waits for emergency services.

Road Response empowers participates with practical knowledge of:

Who it's for

Why it matters

Australia’s roads connect our communities, workplaces and families, but they can also be the setting for serious trauma incidents.

Whether on a busy motorway, a regional highway or a local road, emergency services aren’t always immediately on scene. In those critical first minutes, the people nearby are often the first to provide support.

Knowing what to do, how to stay safe, and how to assist an injured person can make a significant difference while professional help is on the way.

As part of LifeFlight’s First Minutes Matter program, Road Response helps build safer, more prepared communities by giving people the confidence to act when lives matter most.
