Woman winch-rescued by LifeFlight after rocky fall

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew winched a woman to safety yesterday after she fell while hiking in the McPherson Ranges.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 2.05pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and a rescue crew officer was lowered down to retrieve the patient from the rocky terrain.

She was winched into the helicopter and flown to awaiting local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to a clearing at the base of the mountain.

The critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the woman for ankle injuries.

The patient, aged in her 20s, was transported by ambulance to Ipswich hospital in a stable condition.
