The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was injured in a serious head on collision in the Tweed district.
The rescue chopper crew had only just handed over a trail bike accident patient at the Gold Coast University Hospital, when they were re-tasked shortly after 4:30pm (Christmas Day), to attend the crash scene south of the New South Wales border.
All emergency services were in attendance, when the rescue helicopter arrived.
One female patient, aged in her thirties, suffered multiple traumatic injuries after being trapped in a vehicle for a period of time.
Once she was released, she was treated by the aeromedical team and local N.S.W. Paramedics, then airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
It has been a very busy Christmas Day for RACQ LifeFlight Rescue; crews have attended four motor vehicle accidents.
Three of those primary missions were performed by the Toowoomba aeromedical team.
