LifeFlight winches two hikers from mountain

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today winched two hikers from a mountain in the Moogerah Peaks National Park.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 11.40am after a woman in her 20s had fallen and suffered an ankle injury.

The helicopter winched the rescue crew officer and critical care Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic down to the patient.

She was treated by the QAS flight paramedic, winched back into the helicopter with the rescue crew and flown to the base of the mountain.

QAS paramedics road transported the patient to Boonah Hospital for further treatment.

The helicopter then returned to the mountain and winched a second female patient in her 20s to the mountain’s base after she was unable to descend.

She was also road transported to hospital by QAS paramedics.
