LifeFlight has been recognised for aeromedical excellence after scooping double award wins at the prestigious Australian Aviation Awards last night in Sydney.
The not-for-profit won both the Rotary-wing Business of the Year award and the EMS (Emergency Medical Service) Business of the Year award.
The EMS award was the second time LifeFlight has won after taking out the accolade in 2024.
The award recognised LifeFlight coming to the aid of more people than ever with a record 8,477 patients helped in 2024.
The Rotary-wing award was given to LifeFlight for extensive work by its helicopter crews, which included clocking up 3,534 missions and airlifting injured motorists, seafarers, hikers, and farmers injured by animals among other patients.
LifeFlight Chief Operating Officer Lee Schofield, who accepted both awards at a black-tie gala event, said LifeFlight had an exceptional 2024 with unprecedented demand for its services.
“We’re humbled to receive these awards which recognises the work our medical teams, pilots, aircrew, engineers and operations staff carry out daily to help people in their time of need,” Mr Schofield said.
“As our work grows, we’re committed to expanding our capability with new aircraft, facilities and bases to ensure we can continue to offer the highest standards of aeromedical care.
“This recognition is testament to the dedication of all LifeFlight staff who share a vision to provide the best possible care for people no matter where they live, or when they need us.”
The Australian Aviation Awards champion the top-performing aviation professionals and offer recognition to airlines, airports, defence support businesses, and organisations that have implemented innovative initiatives.
