The Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter has airlifted an injured boy to hospital, after he was involved in a serious car crash, earlier today.
It’s believed the boy was travelling in a four wheel drive, along a rural road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll down a gully and land on its roof.
The rescue chopper was sent to the scene, in the Gympie region, shortly before 4pm (Friday, July 9), where the pilot was able to land the aircraft nearby.
Both the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) worked for around an hour to free the boy, who had been trapped under the vehicle.
Once the child was freed, the aeromedical team stabilised him, before airlifting him to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in critical but stable condition.
