LifeFlight airlifts man in North West after snake bite

The Mount Isa-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew tonight airlifted a man to hospital after a snake bite.

It is believed the man was running near Gregory Downs when he was bitten on the leg. A local resident was first on scene and applied first aid, which included bandaging the man’s leg.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 8.12pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and landed at Gregory Downs Airport where the patient had been transported by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.

The QAS flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the man for a snake bite.

The patient, in his 30s, was airlifted to the LifeFlight Mount Isa base and road transported to Mount Isa Hospital by QAS paramedics in a stable condition for further treatment.
