LifeFlight airlifts man after Northern Territory ute rollover

The Mount Isa-based aeromedical crew today airlifted a man to hospital after a ute rollover on a private property in the Northern Territory near the Queensland border.

It is believed the man was able to free himself from the vehicle and message for help after the rollover.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 1.07pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and landed on a dirt road northwest of Mount Isa at Nicholson.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with a local St John’s trained first aid station employee to treat the man for suspected back and spinal injuries.

The patient, aged in his 20s, was airlifted to the LifeFlight Mount Isa base and road transported to Mount Isa Hospital by QAS paramedics in a stable condition for further treatment.
