Driver airlifted after serious single-vehicle crash

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a man to hospital, after he was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash tonight (Sun 23rd Apr).

It’s believed the man, aged in his 20s, had been driving the car southwest of Toowoomba when the vehicle reportedly left the road, crashing down an embankment at speed.

The rescue chopper was called into action around 8.30pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot was able to land on the road, which had been closed to traffic by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel were also at the scene.

The aeromedical team worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for spinal injuries.

He was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A passenger from the vehicle was further assessed by local QAS paramedics.
