The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted an elderly woman to hospital, after she was injured in a single vehicle crash in the Gympie region this afternoon.
The woman, aged in her eighties, was one of three people travelling on a highway in a 4WD ute, when the incident occurred.
The vehicle reportedly rolled then came to rest on its side, injuring the passenger.
The rescue chopper was called into action shortly after 3.30pm.
The pilot landed the aircraft on the road, which had been closed to traffic by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked alongside local QAS paramedics to treat the woman for leg injuries.
She was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
