Elderly man airlifted after suffering serious burns

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was burned in a gardening incident, on a private property.

The rescue chopper was called to the Gympie region, just before 11am today (Saturday 13th June).

It’s believed the man, aged in his 70s, had been burning shrub, using petrol, when he suffered second degree burns to his upper body.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first to the scene.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team worked alongside local QAS paramedics, to stabilise the man.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
